Privacy Policy
Trumpet (“we,” “us,” or “our”) takes your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you use our mobile app (“App”) and related services.
Effective Date
Effective Date: 31 May 2025
Last Updated: 31 May 2025
1. Information We Collect
A. Information You Provide
- Account Info: When you sign in, you give us your email address (and any authentication tokens). We don't collect your name or other contact info unless you share it in messages or feedback.
- Preferences & Settings: You choose things like alert impact/urgency levels and dark mode. We store those in your profile so Trumpet knows how to tailor alerts.
- Feedback & Support Messages: Any messages or responses you send (for support or general feedback) are stored so we can help you.
B. Automatically Collected Info
- Usage Data (via Amplitude): We track how you interact with the App (screens viewed, buttons tapped, time spent). This helps us see what features you find useful and where to improve.
- Device Information: We log your device model, operating system version, App version, and your IP address. That helps us troubleshoot issues and understand general usage patterns.
- Crash & Error Logs (via Sentry): If the App crashes or hits an error, we capture diagnostic data, like stack traces and basic environment details, so we can fix bugs faster.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your data to:
Run and Improve Trumpet
- Deliver alerts (e.g., Trump's social posts) based on your alert preferences.
- Monitor performance, fix bugs, and improve App stability.
- Analyze feature usage so we prioritize updates you actually need.
Communicate with You
- Send occasional updates about new features or changes.
- Reply to your feedback or support requests.
Stay Compliant
- If the law requires it (for example, a valid subpoena), we may need to share certain data with regulators.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal data to advertisers or data brokers. We only share data in these scenarios:
With Service Providers
- Amplitude (analytics): They help us track usage events.
- Sentry (crash reporting): They help us collect and store error reports.
- These vendors are bound by confidentiality and data protection agreements.
For Legal Reasons
- If required by law or a valid legal request (court order, subpoena), we may disclose limited data (e.g., your email or IP) to law enforcement or regulators.
4. Data Storage & Security
- Where It Lives: We store your profile and preferences in Supabase. Analytics events live in Amplitude's secure servers. Crash reports live in Sentry's secured environment.
How We Protect It
- Encryption in transit (HTTPS) and encryption at rest where possible.
- Access is restricted to our small team and to the minimum necessary permissions on third-party platforms.
- Regular security reviews—both automated scans and manual checks.
5. Your Rights & Choices
Depending on where you live (for example, in the EU or certain U.S. states), you may have some or all of these rights:
- Access or Portability: Ask us for a copy of what we hold about you (your profile info, preferences, usage logs).
- Correction or Update: Let us know if something is wrong or out of date (wrong email, outdated preferences).
- Deletion: You can request that we delete your account and any associated personal data.
- Do Not Sell My Info: (if applicable) We do not sell data, but if you're in a jurisdiction that gives you the “Do Not Sell” right, simply let us know.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us. We aim to respond within 30 days.
6. Data Retention
- We keep your account info and preferences as long as your account is active.
- If you delete your account, we'll purge your personal data within 30 days (except for any residual data that might remain in backups or logs for up to 90 days).
- Crash logs and analytics events are stored in Sentry and Amplitude for up to 12 months, then aggregated or deleted in line with industry best practices.
7. Children's Privacy
Trumpet is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If we learn we have personal info from someone under 13, we will delete it promptly.
8. International Transfers
If you're outside the United States, be aware that data (analytics or crash reports) may be transferred to servers in the U.S. or other regions. We rely on standard contractual clauses or other data protection mechanisms to ensure your data is kept safe.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in technology, legal requirements, or how we run Trumpet. When we do, we'll update the “Last Updated” date at the top. If changes are significant, we'll send an in-app notification or email so you're aware. Continuing to use Trumpet after the update means you accept the new policy.
10. Contact Us
If you have any questions, concerns, or requests related to your data, contact us.
